"Yensi Sanchez is the third generation of coffee growers in her family. "

- Yensi Sanchez

Summary of producer

Yensi Sanchez

Yensi is a third generation coffee producer, following in the tradition of her parents and grandparents. Her 1.5 hectare farm Bella Vista is near the Honduras-Nicaragua border is an ideal region for coffee growing, an area where mid-altitude varietals like Parainema do splendidly.

Alongside her husband Danilo, also a third generation coffee producer, they work hard to grow high quality coffee to support their family; providing good education and nutrition to their children, and stability for their family.

At the age of 30, Yensi began his journey into coffee cultivation. The year was 2021. With the help of her husband, she now plants coffee on the land she manages and maintains a small 1.5-hectare coffee farm through dedication and hard work.

The area where they live is suitable for coffee cultivation, and it is a source of income for the family. She wants to give her children better opportunities, a solid education, and proper nutrition, and she also aims to expand the coffee plantation in the future .

Yensi has a strong passion for coffee cultivation. Having helped her parents since she was a child, she now works alongside her husband, upholding the family traditions. For them, coffee has always been an important source of income. However, continuing in the coffee industry is not easy, as it faces many challenges, including low prices, increased pest and disease problems, and rising production costs .

Nevertheless, Yensi finds great satisfaction in the fact that coffee supports his family. Her goal is to bring financial stability to her family, give her children better future opportunities and support their education, while also incorporating better cultivation techniques on her own farm and producing high-quality coffee. She and her family work hard to deliver coffee that people can enjoy and they are grateful to everyone who supports them by purchasing their coffee.

Coffee production in these areas are overly exploited by large corporations and internationally backed capitalisation on these coffees. Because of this, and an ever increasing income inequality crisis, Honduras has thus had a mass exodus of coffee producers and workforce, emigrating to larger cities or internationally in the search for better paid jobs.
