Daye Bensa

Farmers from the Keramo area have been transporting their coffee to the Daye Bensa station for processing, until 2017 they were processing coffee in Shantawene village. Preservation of lot identity plays a vital role in Daye Bensa’s work.

Daye Bensa works with various communities of out-growers from whom they receive cherries and work with multiple washing stations in the Bensa Sidamo area.

Established in 1996 as producers, Daye Bensa has lived through all the turmoils that coffee growing and exporting entails in the region. Nowadays, they are a reference of excellence and resilience in Ethiopia and work with various communities of out-growers from whom they receive cherries. 74158

74158 is one of six selections that were approved for release in 1974 as part of a CBD-resistance (Coffee Berry Disease) selection program. During the 1970's, researchers from the Jimma Agricultural Research Centre searched the forests in the Illuababora zone for CBD-resistant mother trees. Today 74158 is heavily propagated in South Western Ethiopia, and is one of two dominant varieties in Bensa, along with 74112.

Natural NX

With impressive staggering elevations of up to 2,300 meters, the beans are very dense, with heavy concentrations of the smaller screen sizes (the majority of the coffee screen sizes at 13-14). Hand-picked at peak ripeness and dried on raised meshes until 10.5% moisture level is reached.
