"Daniel, who originally comes from a sugarcane producer background, brings a unique perspective to coffee cultivation. "

- Daniel Muñoz

Summary of producer

Daniel Muñoz

As Daniel came of age, he created opportunities outside of the coffee farm for his family by developing a panela factory, where would take the raw product produced by his family farm and turn it into the popular Colombian snack, which he sold in San Agustin. For years, he ran this factory in conjunction with a hardware store in San Agustin before becoming enchanted with coffee and the potential it held. His finca, Villa Camila - named after his daughter - is not only a place of innovation, but also a symbol of dedication and lasting relationships.

Daniel purchased Villa Camila with the direct purpose of growing high-grade specialty coffee, and his farm is explicitly committed to Pink Bourbon and Gesha. This was rather challenging as when he took over the farm, it was in a very poor condition. Other plants had completely taken over the soil and he had to radically change the appearance of the terrain and plant dedicated coffee trees.

His first foray into the specialty market came via the Los Naranjos association. He became acquainted with the group and began to sell his Pink Bourbons as part of their blended lots and has done so for the last ten years.

Summary of variety

Gesha

The Geisha (or Gesha) cultivar is a highly prized variety of Coffea arabica known for its exceptional and distinctive flavor profile. It originated in Ethiopia but gained fame after its introduction to Panama. Geisha beans are characterized by their long, slender shape and complex, aromatic flavors often described as floral, tea-like, with notes of jasmine, bergamot, apricot, and peach.
